One would think we'd remember how well McNamaras Folly worked out during the 60's. (The attached article says "morons" I do not recall that epithet). How about we get out of the social justice, crocs and Xbox, soft handshake mode? Set high standards, build a culture of elite, professional, apolitical warriors across every branch, designator, MOS, academy and ROTC accession point? Speak to honor, accountability, patriotism and altruism as a career goal. Give folks something to want to be part of. Something to be proud of. There was a time.......

Inside the Pentagon's shameful effort to draft mentally disabled men to fight in Vietnam
The story of how men were aggressively recruited and pushed through training without having met even the minimum of standards set for them.

The difference is that they were CAT4 normally not allowed in; these kids need HIGHER scores than HS grads/GED holders.

Lt Col Charlie Brown Shame on me for skimming over that detail. Watch me spin on that dime and retract my first two sentences. Inclined to Cpl Vic Burk 's comments regarding case by case diploma waivers. Some highly intelligent people do not finish HS for nefarious reasons, others not. The Marines and Guard have GED programs, I understand. If we can accomodate sex changes and intra state travel for abortion, surely we can adapt existing GED programs. (Sorry, I digressed) Save for the first two sentences, I'm doubling down on the rest of my rant. :-)) :-))
