Rightly so to hold without Bail. Sad, the authorities had received two troubling reports about him, and nothing was done.

The police should have filed to preclude the purchase of weapons/guns based on mental issues. The Illinois police own the outcome having ignored a solution they controlled

Cpl Benjamin Long - While oi love discourse it isnt constructive to just assert that laws and or statutes don't mean anything. We are a nation of laws not polls , not conspiracies . That isn't to say its perfect but in pursuit of as AL said "a more perfect union". Not sure what we are disagreeing about but guess we are agreeing to disagree

SPC John Donohue I didn't mention anything about polls... You were asserting public interest which would preclude polling.... I asserted privacy laws and supremacy clause... Which is specific laws

Cpl Benjamin Long - supremacy? Sorry please show citation I may have missed something . The public interest comment is used in law and regulation to define a basis for the enforcement or provision. . It isn't ad hoc it precedes laws where the government asserts a power. When I was active and worked at INSCOM/NSA we dropped US originating transmission and or phone calls. This had been law since Truman established the agency. It was changed in the Patriot Act and the agency used its resources on domestically sourced activities without national security matters. That has been judged to be illegal but it is the subject of ongoing efforts and appeals. The government's investigation power has been used in recent history for political not national security issues. That is a a dangerous and slippery slope. Another example of the same thing is when the SEC established its own courts whihc is as star chamber as it gets . This was declared unconstitutional around 6 months ago as has the governermtns ability to seize property regardless of verdict

It's sad when the system and the parents fail to take action when faced with the truth. The Authorities were made aware of his threats and did nothing. The father assisted him with buying a gun. Again a very sad situation that resulted in the death of others.
