The Realities of America's Student Debt Crisis | The Daily Show

welcome to adulting, where making decisions have consequences. No one forced any of these students to take out the loans, no one forced these students to take worthless degrees, or oversaturated degrees. I blame Parents as well as these young adults. Parents for not guiding their children when it came to choosing what field to study, and the students for not researching the worth their degree has on the open market. When the market is flooded with millions of people holding a similar degree, the value of that degree lessens. It is not the Government or loaning entities that set the cost of education, but the colleges and universities that do this. They know with the Feds involved, they can price gauge the costs. Tell me why college textbooks are 100's of dollars? Tell me why a general 4 year degree is over 100k when all is said and done? The finger is pointing in the wrong direction.

EDIT: I have no problem with forgiving the interest, as interest is just government and financial institutions making money off the loan, but I do not agree with forgiving the principle as taxpayers and financial institutions are investing in your potential, not on your success.

It may be sad. It may be a problem that needs to be addressed. But ultimately it's a problem between the borrower and the school, and one of them should pay/suffer. Not me and my fellow taxpayers.
