Interesting title. Brings to mind the Camp Lejeune problem 53-86 . . . 33 years before the problem was discovered?!! Really? And another 33-36 for VA to stop denying cause and effect? That is as bad as denying Agent Orange health problems for so long. If some one retired after 20-30 years they would be close to 80, or 90 if still living. VA does the same again and again and again so folks either die of old age or the medical condition being denied.

SGT Mary G. Guilty as charged... Lol...
"Are You unwittingly engaging in Tsundoku?
Tsundoku is acquiring reading materials but letting them pile up in one's home without reading them. Do you have a habit of picking up books that you never quite get around to reading? If this sounds like you, you might be unwittingly engaging in tsundoku."

I know the problem, SGT (Join to see)! I get to them eventually - some of them again! It is comforting to know there is knowledge, and opinion, and different perspectives easily available to still explore and consider. Guess that is tsundoku! Lol.
I love that people are making book nooks in communities where they leave books for people to take. And Dolly Parton has some type of program going on that provides children with their first book of their own. Kids love it And there was, maybe still is, an organization online - BookCrossing - where people would place books in random places with a note that it is a gift to whoever finds it. Even with kindles and digital reading, people still love books!

SGT Mary G. - part of my problem is that I'm A.D.D. & I don't medicate for it. When I read, my mind will drift & I'll start thinking about other stuff... or a lot of times get sleepy. I've read more on RP, over the last 19+ months, than I have since I retired going on 17 years ago. My youngest daughter is an avid reader... she will start & finish a thick book in a day or two. Pre-Covid... the local V.A. Clinic had a table of magazines & a couple of book racks of hard & soft backed books for the Veterans to take. I would bring her several & would return them when she was done. Thanks for the exchange.

That right but owning isn’t where it at, it’s in reading them

PO1 Mary Vermont Agreed!
The definition of "tsundoku" apparently is being surrounded by too many of one's own books! Apparently the convenience of them being available is reassuring - or a way of feeling good about rationalizing the accumulation!
I know the problem - past time to sort and donate. Keeping reference books though!
