One of my nephews used to spend his vacation time in Alaska. The first time he saw those "Northern Lights" he was amazed. What he found even more surprising was the way the Alaskans were so blase` about it.

Cpl Vic Burk I saw them twice when I was a kid, once the sky was clear and it was quite a show. The second there was a low hanging fog and I was out hunting down the cows, it sure did look weird, fog so low it looked like I could reach up my hand and touch it, and it was shimmering and dancing green glow. The closest green that I've seen since was the green chem lights that we used in the Army.

I don't care. I miss summer already and can't wait for winter to be over and spring to return.

In a way I agree, but there is something about the first couple times that I smell a wood burning furnace on a chilly fall or early winter night. Whenever I smell that I stop in my tracks and have flashbacks of when I was a kid on the farm.
