I've used both. Jury-rigged for executive actions of supervisors - kind of like the words of the dark angel "Voluntold". Jerry-rigged was used for when we assembled something out multiple spare parts to make something larger work/function - kind of like the series "Junkyard Wars".

I picked up the habit while serving in the Army of saying, "Field expedient." Seems better than "Jerry-" or "Jury-Rigged"

Well, it could always be "Charlie-Rigged" which means that it only runs on coffee fuel.
