The Navy can't make up their minds. As a sea going Marine in the 80s, it was the ball cap/dixie cup cover and dungarees in port and a mix of dungarees, coveralls or OG107 pants and flight deck shirt at sea.

My favorite was dungarees and Coraframs (low quarter dress shoes).

CPO David R. D. We worked the flight deck during special weapons moves and we wore the issued steel toe boots.
We made a killing on those after the 'Shellback initiation'.. We asked sailorswho were going to throw those over the side after the ceremony if we could have them instead. We outfitted the whole MARDET and the Weapons gang (we took care of them and vice versa). Then the next day they announced new boots issue, but you had to have old steel toes for turn in. BWAHAHA

CPO David R. D. After we teased them about them costing lots of money, we gave all the leftovers to guys who needed them. Shining they were!

LTC Trent Klug - That's funny. I know after my first Shellback Initiation, my boondockers were ruined, there was about a 2 inch circle of steel showing where leather once was on both shoes. I have to admit, they got tossed over the side. I had another set of boots standing by.
