I would say there is. Just My opinion here. I can be wrong though. But, a lot has changed within all of the branches though.

The right needs to find a new catch word. You are wearing out "woke."

MSG (Join to see) - The Army Times was just quoting conservatives. From the article:
"Sen. Tommy Tuberville, R-Ala., for example, is among a group of Republican senators who have repeatedly blamed recruiting problems on the Biden administration for trying to build a “woke Army.”

Thomas Spoehr, director of the Center for National Defense at The Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank, recently opined that wokeness is the “chief worry of grizzled American veterans today.”

Yes but the Army Times posed the question. They are evoking conversation, which is great. Hence why I brought it over here.

the Right changed the definition of woke... most don't have a clue to real meaning.

In my opinion no. We have less people that qualify and those that do are probably deterred by rampant Sexual Assaults, Murders, Senior Leader misconduct, etc. The UCMJ is a joke and senior leaders get less punishment for the same infractions as their subordinates.

My thoughts are similar to yours but not exactly in line. I think the primary issue in today's military, namely the Army, is a lack of accountability and good order and discipline. Gone are the days of, "Good afternoon, Sergeant," and standing at parade rest until you tell the Soldier to relax. Now they just whiz past you or hang out and stand around like they're one of the boys. I've seen the same done to officers.

On the flip side, we have so many accommodations for everything that it takes away from Soldiering and the mission. Add the things you mentioned and here we are with the sad state of affairs within our organization.

MSG (Join to see) - Soldiers lacking discipline has a good bit to do with leadership failure. We have been making accommodations for many different things for decades so I'm unsure what that has to do with things now.

1SG (Join to see) - You're right but it all circles back to accountability. Leader and Soldier alike. What a world we live in, brother.
