They don't get paid enough to come around a place where bullets are flying?

SPC Jon O. - You will get no argument from me. The list I complied above, I was very careful to just get Socialist deaths. Many here will try to split hairs between Socialism and Communism.

SFC (Join to see) - The only difference between Socialists and Communists is that the Communists already have your guns. ;-)

CPT (Join to see) - Officially that may be true, but in all the occurrences I cited I don't believe there were many guns left n those societies for people to defend themselves.

Defunding was about accountability. Departments tend to spend money on things they may not need to spend it on and later make an excuse for an even bigger budget. Take the Philadelphia police department. Officers start out at $59,795 upon entering the academy. They will earn 63,945 upon completion of successful academy training. They will earn a maximum pay of $83,048 as an officer not including overtime pay they may earn or advancement pay they may earn by becoming a sergeant, LT l, CPT, detective. Philadelphia city employees receive free health insurance covered by the city but most pay for their dental and vision coverage. Officers are also entitled to pension and 457B plan. When the city lowers the departments budget they don't want to reduce pay or benefits. They want to take military grade equipment from basic officers. They want audit where the money is going and where it isn't. Especially when that money could be given to say the public library system or the parks and recreation departments. It's the police department heads that will take money from compensation packages to fund their useless projects. Come on anyone whose worked in military contracting, governmental acquisition, or public finance knows how much places who get the biggest budgets love to waste the money. Budgets are never sent wisely or as intended.

CPT (Join to see) most officers aren't being given proper escalation and de-escalation training. I said you'd be lucky to find officers who are currently SFAUC trained. The department is currently 500 officers short. The department could be pushing 2,000 short by 2028 because they're having issues recruiting. The police department recently came under audit where it showed most money went to replacing equipment and equipment upgrades and personal compensation increases to keep current personal on the force. If officers were properly trained then we wouldn't have so many bad encounters happen that currently happen.

While I can understand the rational used to take funding away from police, life just doesn't work that way. The leaders that think like this are like children and/or they were bowing to pressure from special interests like BLM, etc. Funding used for military pieces like you mentioned are typically one time expenses on any budget. The plain fact of the matter is that cities from New York to San Fransico to Seattle eliminated whole units of police and ate up personnel expenses up around the edges. Thats where the real money is.

That's how the real world works. After police officers see a third of their force gone and they are getting no support for the Administration, hell the Administration is condemning they, everyone who can retire will retire; and that's exactly what happened.

Because of this faulty thinking and bowing to politically correct horse's behinds, it will take at least 10 years to build back police forces with the same experience they had prior to this bull; and that is only if they reestablish police budgets, successfully recruit new police officer candidates and get them trained and on the street NOW. After they are on the street about 5 years the cities will be on equal footing to before all the bull started.

You can agree or disagree with me but the plain fats is until what I said is done, the cities that caved into these special interests will be hurting and dying. MHO's

I apologize but, I was a little too clever with my response.

What I was trying to say is that it was so dangerous on the street in Philly the last time I went, that it would require my being with one of my Operational Detachments-Alpha (SFODA) to feel truly safe. PFC Metcalf, If you live in a big city, contact the local community policing office and request a ride-along in a rough part of town. They will have you sign a release and issue you a ballistic vest, and off you go. Don't go just once but go several times over a few weeks to months. If you need help arranging this, let me know and I will run interference for you with the Chief of Operations or whoever.

I have sent you information on the best way to contact me.
