Sky has a definite lean to the right. And even they are saying Reuplicans vastly underperformed.

Personally, I think it is two major problems. First, the dedication to Trump. Trump backed candidates won most of their primaries. They fared much less well in the generals. The base keeps worshipping Trump when the moderate Republicans and independents continue to be turned off by him. So even below average Dems with a far-below-average party platform and national reputation have a fighting chance against the level of lingering hatred for Trump.

Second it is the quality of the candidates themselves. The two biggest (and likely most consequential) "toss-up" races were PA and GA. And neither Oz nor Walker were particularly good or compelling candidates. Walker has a TON of baggage, a large portion can also be tagged with #hypocrisy. And Oz is a media figure with no history in politics, no real policy goals or message, and no real plans. He, essentially, ran on "Trump likes me, and Fetterman sucks." That's not a good campaign - and not a good candidate.

Republicans were so sure the economy would tank Dems they failed to choose candidates who could actually do so.

Just my $0.02.

For the record, I am a strongly conservative independent. My ballot yesterday had 6 Rs and 8 Ds in the contested races. And Rs for both of the national positions (Sen and US Rep).

I voted more Ds in contested positions, because there were more Rs uncontested, and I did my best to make City Council evenly divided, because BOTH parties suck right now, and I don't want EITHER to be able to work unchecked.

Fair comments all, and I definitely agree with the proposition that both parties suck. Still, I think you need to be beaten up some more before you figure out that this Administration is destroying America and voting for Dems in national office is simply going to keep the blood flowing. Or, as we once said, "Please sir, may I have another?"

CPT Jack Durish - Funny... I intentionally bled today. I am one pint lighter than I was yesterday.

But as to your comment, I voted R for both national positions. It was local I was trying to balance.

And I succeeded in sending Rs to Washington. But failed for the city.... Straight R. Mayor, city council, sherriff, corner, jailer and on down. The ONLY Democrat is the incumbent property value administrator - who ran unopposed. My town has been mostly red, but with enough blue to be heard right up until this election.

And I call shenanigans, too.

Previous elections, we voted for our ward, and only our ward, just like a state or US Rep. With a 57/43 split, the council changed our elections so that everyone in the city votes on every ward. And lo and behold, all the Republicans won, with an average 56/44 split (a couple 52/48s and a 63/36).

That's not true representation. When we are sending ONE PERSON to represent all of us, fine. But when we have 12 voices to represent us, we should not have an echo chamber.
