Only three months and change? Count on six to seven months before you get a decision.

If anyone else is in a situation like this, go to SSA.GOV and create a "mySocialSecurity" account. You'll be able to keep tabs on the application.

Additionally, if you are even denied a claim for SSDI by the SSA, you should get a lawyer. By law, they are limited to 25% of the backpay you are entitled to up to a $7,500 cap (just was raised from $6,000 this October) and only get paid if you win your appeal (there could be additional fees regarding document copying, etc .. typically less than $200 total).

Small price IMHO to pay someone to navigate the SSA process and represent you if it ever goes to the "before a judge" phase of your appeal (most are concluded before that).
