A U.S. Navy hospital ship docked in southwest Haiti has temporarily suspended medical services after 19 people with the mission fell overboard amid a heavy swell hitting the Caribbean region, officials said Tuesday. It happened Monday night and involved 12 military personnel and seven civilians with the USNS Comfort who were returning to the ship after caring for patients on land, said Lewis Preddy, a U.S. Navy spokesman.

I am not really sure why but IMHO the people of Haiti seem to be some of the worst people in the world generally speaking. People protested the Hospital ship that had come to provide free medical services to those in need. They have extreme problems with gangs and poverty, yet seem to demand assistance not ask for it. When help does come they kidnap those trying to help and demand random for their release.
I guess it just that I can not remember anything positive in the news about the country or their people.

After Papa Doc and Baby Doc’s dictatorship was ended, the people had nothing. Anything the people could do was subsist. Then AIDS hit the Island, hurricanes, Tropical storms, earthquakes, land slides, housing/ apartment complexes that had inferior materials used when built under the 2 Dictatorships collapsed on the renters and families living in them. Then , political upheaval / social havoc / generations growing up so poor and indigent that they would kill / rob/ harm everyone they thought would harm them. No end was had in the point after Baby Doc’s fleeing from the Island , of the corruption and miserable treatment of the people in successive regimes, Haiti is a no-go spot even tourists avoid it . Choosing alternative Caribbean islands for vacation spots.
The Dominican Republic , which shares the Island with Haiti , has experienced some tragedies and hardships from the violence and upheaval from Haiti’s population going into the DR side of the island.
Sadly, Haitian people live in a violent and unsure state of existence. It was once a beautiful nation.
