The Marine Corps is about uniformity. I do not like the exceptions for turbans and beards.

Personally, it doesn't bother me. That being said, there is some credit to what an old friend of mine said when he stated "If there are exceptions to policies...then why have policies"

Capt Gregory Prickett - It has nothing to do with freedom of religion. it has to do with uniformity and order. Do you want the sacrifice of animals in the name of religion?

Sgt (Join to see) - The sacrifice of animals was covered by a US Supreme Court case, Lukumi Babalu Aye v. City of Hialeah (1993), where the Court held that a city could not ban animal sacrifice that were valid religious rights. The services already have similar exceptions for other religious beliefs, thus they have to either accommodate the Sikhs, or pass strict scrutiny while they don't.

HELL NO! Regulations are there for a reason.
If you don't Look like a Marine/Soldier, you will not act like one. I cannot believe this is debatable. WOW

Capt Gregory Prickett How can they wear a Kevlar? It's still going to a Higher Court. Do you support the Wicka's, Devil worshipers, etc...

Maybe I'm too old school. I'm just sharing my opinion. Have a Merry Christmas CPT. Paul

1SG Paul Ayotte - I support the First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States, like I swore to do, multiple times, and yes, I support the rights of Wiccan and other pagan groups to worship in the military.

A Sikh can wear a patka under Kevlar (what the Army calls an "under-turban"). Women can wear a bun and still wear Kevlar, Sikh men are no different.

There's nothing wrong with being old school, or with presenting your opinion. I'm just offering food for thought and discussion.

I hope that the holiday season is good for you too.

MSG (Join to see) This is bull$hit in my opinion. In the military you conform to whatever the policy dictates.
