Stories and Song from David Crosby: Part 2...
Longer... but Worth the Time...
A QUOTE F.T.C. - "My David Crosby story. It was 1973. I was 21 and about to start nursing school. Getting on a plane from SF to Santa Barbara, I passed first class, saw him sitting there with an empty seat next to him. I struggled with my shyness, and after we took off I got up and went to say Hi. "You probably get tired of hearing this, but I love your music". He said "I never get tired of hearing that." Figuring I had nothing to lose, I asked if I could sit and talk for a few minutes. We sat for 30 minutes until the plane landed, talking about folk music (I was a folk singer/guitarist), Joni Mitchell, just everything I loved about music. I told him I liked his solo album, and he said "oh! YOU were the one who bought it!" He was gracious, funny, and a real sweetheart. When I told him about me starting nursing school, he was dismayed. Tried to talk me out of it, saying I was so young and should "live life" first. In retrospect I'm happy with my life decisions. Glad I didn't listen a guy who partied so hard he needed a new liver by the time he hit 50. But I still love him and his music."
