Will be interesting to see how this this squares with current federal law (Hyde amendment) which restricts DoD (and any other federal funded agency) from using funds to perform an abortion unless it is a 'covered' situation (life of mother, rape, or incest)*.

DoD will already cover the costs to a servicemember to get an abortion if it is a 'covered' situation, but this expands it to all abortions.

Providing "fully paid travel expenses for troops who have to go out of state to obtain an abortion and up to three weeks of leave to accompany a dependent or spouse" for non-covered abortions seems to absolutely be a conflict with existing federal law.

Anyone besides remember the days when fathers shackled themselves to their wives so they couldn't be separated during the birth of their children? Fathers, these days, are commonly seen in birthing rooms without taking such extreme measures. When my first child was born, in those earlier times, I was allowed to be present at his birth. He was born at Tripler Army Medical Center in Hawaii. How about that for enlightened practice? Is unnecessary abortion an enlightened practice? Let the debate begin...

"Abortion is murder."

Not according to the Bible.
