On a conference call with reporters on Monday, the former McKinsey consultant said his department was "accelerating and augmenting our ongoing lines of effort on rail regulation and inspection," whatever that means. Buttigieg also attacked Sen. Marco Rubio (R., Fla.) and others who have criticized his slow response to the Feb. 3 train derailment and his refusal to visit East Palestine to survey the damage.
"I am very interested in getting to know the residents of East Palestine, hearing from them about how they’ve been impacted and communicating with them about the steps that we’re taking," Buttigieg said on the conference call. "When the time is right, I do plan to visit East Palestine. I don’t have a date for you right now."

Maybe he should just show up because that's one of the most important aspects of leadership.
Leadership is about more than just telling people what to do. It's about setting an example and showing up in a way that inspires others to follow your lead.
This means showing up even when things get tough or when you don't feel like it. If you're not willing to put in the effort and show up consistently, it's unlikely that others will look to you as a leader.
While leadership is not just about showing up, showing up in a way that inspires others to follow your lead IS a critical part of it.

His political speak is just too much. He's only going there because the previous president is there this morning with water and cleaning supplies.

Personally I feel that Buttigieg ain't going to show up until everything is cleaned up and hauled away, because he doesn't want to get sick. Plus he can come in and say "See everything we've done for you. I couldn't come sooner because I've been working to coordinate everything and hold the company's feet to the fire."
Remember how we were taught to see if a area was clear to unmask, take the least important person (E1, E2 or even O1) and have them unmask, that's what Buttigieg should have been. He should have been ordered to go there and spend about a week living in town, breathing the air, drinking the water, eatting the food and sleeping there, then maybe things would have been taken care of.
