An over-reliance on ANY tool is a bad thing. But there is a difference between proper use and OVER-reliance.

Maybe not so much an idiot as one who believes they can settle a perceived injustice through not enforcing laws. What she is failing to realize is when she refuses to enforce laws against select groups of the population she is actually changing the laws, and that’s not supposed to happen in our Country. It will heighten the sense of entitlement some already have by 100%.

Then again, she may be an idiot. :)

If crime is color blind, then why is the prison population so disproportionately misaligned from our overall population? The black population makes up 14% of the US population, but it makes up 39% of the prison population.

What you're missing is that a number of causal factors increase someone's likelihood of eventually committing a crime, like their socioeconomic status, education level, whether or not they have gainful employment, etc. Those factors are not even across our society. That's why simply throwing people into prison doesn't solve the problem, and it disproportionately impacts certain segments of our society. You have to solve the underlying problems that lead to crime, and those remain unaddressed in our society.

The underlying problems, sir, are the breakdown of the stable nuclear family, the high level of absentee fathers, and the removal of moral and good citizenship education.

All of which have been championed as "progress" by the progressives. The underlying problems ARE being addressed - by creating and exacerbating them in the name of "progress."

LTC Kevin B. - I agree 100%. Addressing "the underlying problems that lead to crime", is not politically expedient. Neither party wants to confront the elephant in the room.

SFC Casey O'Mally - You are correct that from 1916 all the historic Democratic progressive policies that typically devalued family values for our minorities brought us to this point in lawlessness. Now that we are at the point of people burning down cities because they feel wronged or disagree with something, we need to figure out what to do. The law must be the same for everyone, if it isn’t we will not keep our Republic for long. It is ironic because when/if that day happens “all rights” will be taken away from everyone so quickly, no one will believe it.

The $64,000 Question is how to we reestablish healthy family values for these folks? Like it or not this lawlessness and entitlement mentality these people have are their nature now. The damage has been done. I wish I had the answer(s). I do not. I do know that more prejudice will not solve prejudice.

CMSgt (Join to see) - If I’m hearing you right: the question is how to bring everyone’s standard of living up to what “we” think of as acceptable and then everyone has a level playing field? At the end of the day this is the same way of saying something fancy like socioeconomic status. I believe some important questions must be asked before we go here:
1) Are there any successful minorities? We all know the answer to that is yes.
2) Was Affirmative Action always the cause of success in these cases? Sometimes yes, sometimes no, but not always.
3) Are there typical characteristics of successful minorities? Yes, typical characteristics are commitment, fortitude, love of family, and probably a few more. They are the same characteristics of most successful regardless of color.
4) Is there a way we can make all minorities successful? Yes. We have done it. As long as everyone is equal under the law everyone has the same chance to success and make no mistake about it, success is there for everyone. For all colors there is no way to guarantee the same levels of commitment, fortitude, love of family. Life just doesn’t work that way.
I can tell some stories of my grandparents being immigrants and abused, but I won’t bore you other that to say their love of God and Family gave them the strength to face the trials day after day.

I respectively submit the solution, or elephant in the room as you put it is how to motivate people to success. There is not answer because if you have 10 million trillion people you will have the same possible amounts of answers. We cannot guarantee an equal outcome that most Progressives advocate for.
