The End: War’s impact persists 50 years after US exit from Vietnam

My Comment: "March 29th is National Vietnam War Veterans Day, and as I reminisce about that time in my life this article gives a perspective from a person awarded the MOH for his service in Vietnam.
ARTICLE CORRECTION:
KIA: over the course of the Vietnam War 58,307.
WIA: 303,704 - 153,329 required hospitalization, and 50,375 did not.
Severely disabled: 75,000, 23,214 were classified as 100% disabled.
5,283 lost limbs and 1,081 sustained multiple amputations.
Amputation or crippling wounds to the lower extremities were 300% higher than in WWII and 70% higher than in Korea. Multiple amputations occurred at the rate of 18.4% compared to 5.7% in WWII.

I made these corrections because I believe every life lost in the Vietnam War is worth mentioning, and a shortcut in my mind is not acceptable. I've known others that were lost in the war within the confines of their own mind, those that died later from dioxin exposure, and some nasty horrible painful deaths. I consider myself lucky because while I suffer the effects today, I am still verticle. Even in pain, I am enjoying life - I am a lucky man.

True - Back in January 2023, we had an emotional ceremony that held at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona for more than a dozen veterans that were laid to rest, unclaimed. No family or friend could be found.
My heart swelled when I saw the dozens of people that attended the ceremony that had no idea who these men were other than they served their country.
We still have homeless veterans and those that are missing that can not be found by family or friends. It's sad, especially when I see the hundreds of millions being spent on illegals crossing the border. It would seem they take priority over those that served their country. I find that concerning.

agree. Ischemic heart diseases I had a quadruple by pass 7 months ago. i Thank God for each day now.
