I believe these people’s hearts are in the right place but if I’ve learned one thing in my lifetime it’s that you can’t make life foolproof/bulletproof. Who knows? Maybe they are just after the money. The second you put up an obstacle the mentally ill and/or criminals will find a way around or through the obstacle. I see this as taking resources away from other critical areas. This is just common sense for anyone trained in mobility/counter mobility. I believe locked classroom doors will be fairly equivalent to these safe spaces.

Agree with all of your points. I'll add a psychological one, buying something like this can, to your point, take resources away from other needed areas and might make people feel better, while creating the illusion of safety when you don't really have it.

You get it. The cost analysis, benefits, and consequences between options were drilled into me in my early years working for PennDOT by the last generations of engineers and managers that designed and built our interstate system. I can't help but analyze everything I see. It’s part of who I am.

I don't view it as prison, just trying to stop the bad people. I personally don't agree with their premise, but reasonable people can disagree.
