I saw one of the talking heads the other day opining that "he wasn't trying to sell these to the Russians or China, so we should go easy on him. He was just a kid that did a dumb thing".
No ... he was a 21 year old adult that knew full well that what he was doing was against the law. Regardless if he did it to 'impress some friends' or such, that is no excuse.

Exactly. He's an adult and should be held accountable. Let's just hope his sentence is not commuted like people in the past.
