One thing that drives me crazy with "best practices" for erosion and sedimentation control that most aquatic biologists just love is the practice of cutting down trees and letting them fall across a stream's headwaters that in effect brads the stream to put more sedimentation and nutrients into the water for fish habitat and food. What I can't understand is if we're trying to stop sedimentation in waterways, why do they consider this a best practice.
