Excellent share. I honestly think it's the nature of the beast. You train for war so when none is going on you still must go someplace to accomplish that training.

Recruiting shortfalls and lower retention rates are having a big effect. Add to that a larger % that joined the military with absolutely no intention to deploy, forces someone else to fill that vacant position on a deploying unit manning roster….ie the usual sick, lame and lazy profiles plus timely pregnancy and now gender changing all make service members unavailable.
The military has lost focus on war fighting and being the best it can be by following the liberal winds of social justice and social experiments.

1SG Russell S. a good friend of mine’s nephew is a National Guard soldier and he is due to be sent to either Afghanistan or somewhere in Africa later this year.

Maj Robert Thornton - I can’t imagine him going to Afghanistan…we lost that one….Africa and Europe are still viable options depending on the needs of the Big Army. Remind him if he is in a “tax free” zone to try and invest in a Roth IRA as there will be no tax when he puts in in…a big win for long term savings.
