The lack of discipline starts in the home, with both parents having to work, discipline goes out the window, the child can't be disciplined at school, and if the parents try to discipline the childat home, they are accused of child abuse, so it's a lose-lose situation brother SFC (Join to see)

SFC (Join to see) - Very true, my grandson is lucky though, dad works at home, and so does his step mother, he's been brought up to respect his elders, and has been disciplined by yours truly and others, but not to where it would be called child abuse, one swift swat on the rear with the hand, and that's it.

Many (not all) are very selfish and self centered

It does seem that way. I see it in my grandchildren.

But if you ask them, we're the problem. If we just changed everything we have ever done to be successful and worked they way THEY wanted us to, things would be great.

My eldest granddaughter that I love more that life itself has trouble with this. To me it seemed like when she entered middle school she got together with her friends and decided how life worked with her friends. Now even though she sees how her beliefs just don't work, she is very slow to let go of them. I can't complain, she works full time so she is living. I know many who are just sitting at home or wasting their parent's money in college.
