I tend to agree with the author. But I also want to take into account the shooter's physicality. A threat to an older citizen might not be a threat to a 25y/o 6'3" 250 pounder. There are numerous factors in play when a shot in self-defense is taken. "Shoot first" should really be "Shoot last" though.
