Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen i remember going to college no lockers, and the books for Nursing School were heavy, with the amount of violence I’m reading daily, I can see where this might be a step toward saving the children, remembering columbine,

Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen I understand the safety concern that a backpack can contain weapons but it's ridiculous. We have enough lockers but they are small, maybe 1 x 3 feet and with the size of textbooks today that isn't good. Additionally, my school has seven minutes passing time between classes but it's also a very big school and has four buildings potentially having a class in three of the four isn't unheard of. They would only use all four buildings if they also had JROTC. The high school is set up like a college campus and not everyone could have a central location for their lockers. There isn't enough time to go to a locker between each class so they would have to carry multiple books during the day. The backpack is just easier to do the job!

"Flint Community Schools
-- A school district in Michigan has banned all backpacks from school buildings, in response to growing safety concerns. Flint Community Schools announced last week that backpacks would be banned and the ban would be in place for the rest of the school year. The new policy went into effect on Monday."
