Lt Col Charlie Brown Ma'am according to a military times article, it's expected to cost an estimated $39,000,000 to rename all 9 bases that were ruled to be changed by base renaming commission. Fort Pickett (Fort Barfoot), Fort Rucker (Fort Novosel), Fort Lee (Fort Gregg-Adams), and Fort Hood (Fort Cavazos) have all been redesignated with those dates being 24 March, 10 April, 27 April, and today respectively. Fort Benning will be renamed Fort Moore on 11 May, with Fort Bragg being renamed Fort Liberty and Fort Polk being renamed Fort Johnson on 2 June and 13 June respectively. Fort Gordon won't be renamed Fort Eisenhower until 27 October 2023, and Fort A.P. Hill, which is supposed to be redesignated as Fort Walker, does not yet have a date determined for the redesignation.

About damn time! I’ve been part of the ongoing ‘conversation’ about the renaming of the bases. Long story short, the Southern bases were named after Confederate officers as an appeasement during reconstruction. That might have been necessary at the time. However, All if those officers were by definition traitors that violated their oaths when they renounced their commissions and took up arms against the United States. The reason they did so is irrelevant. American military bases should not be named after traitors. Had the South won, they could have rightly named the bases after their war heroes. But they didn’t win.

Not sure what your background is. But you certainly weren’t career military. Maybe you could enlighten me why I am wrong. It’s possible for intelligent people to change their minds when presented with factual evidence contrary to their beliefs.
