The politicians listened to the wrong groups when they decided to stick their noses into women's health issues, and rewrite the rules of healthcare. This is not the will of the people.

LTC Eugene Chu I can only hope one of the politicians has a daughter in the same situation... then we'll see what they think...
..."One of the bans prohibits abortions after fetal cardiac activity has been detected, which meant that doctors couldn't provide her immediate emergency care, which she would have had access to in states where abortion is not banned or restricted.

Kristen Anaya's medical records, obtained by ABC News, show she waited 22 hours between when she was admitted to the hospital to when she delivered her baby, despite her spiking a fever and shaking uncontrollably within an hour of arriving.

Anaya said she and her husband Stephen went to see a specialist two years into their marriage, hoping to get pregnant.

After her husband underwent a medical procedure and she went through two rounds of egg retrials for in vitro fertilization, doctors told them they had one embryo, she said.

Anaya said she had the embryo implanted in January and found out she was pregnant nine days later. The couple was elated. Anaya has one 20-year-old son, but this would be her husband's first child.

Four months later, Anaya said her water broke and she began leaking amniotic fluid — which is essential to keep a fetus alive.

After consulting with her OB/GYN, the couple drove to the hospital and Anaya lost a significant amount of amniotic fluid within the next hour.

An ultrasound confirmed that she had lost nearly all her amniotic fluid, but the baby's heart was still beating, according to Anaya's medical records. As she was being examined by a doctor, Anaya began having rigors — shaking uncontrollably — and spiked a fever, both an indication of an infection which could lead to sepsis, the medical records show.

"The pregnant patient has a life-threatening physical condition aggravated by, caused by, or arising from a pregnancy, That condition places the pregnant patient at 'risk of death;' That condition poses a 'serious risk of substantial impairment of a major bodily function'," doctors wrote in her admission medical records.

It was only a few hours later, when they spoke with Anaya's OB/GYN, that the couple said they realized their baby girl — who they named Tylee — would not survive.

But the couple had no time to process the devastating news -- Anaya's OB/GYN told her she would "get very sick," before doctors could help her, she told ABC News.

"So it would have been avoidable -- me going into sepsis -- if they were able to induce labor. The quicker they could get Tylee delivered, the better chance they had at me not going into sepsis. However, Tylee still had a heartbeat," Anaya said.

"My husband and I are being told that 'not only did we lose Tylee, but now you're gonna go into sepsis and there's nothing we can do about it other than watch you because of the abortion laws in Texas,'" Anaya said doctors told them.

According to her medical records, Anaya's physician "initiated contact with the termination committee" — a committee of physicians who must approve any abortion care at the hospital — upon her admission to the hospital, a step which is not required of physicians in states where abortion is legal, according to Dr. Aileen Gariepy, an OB/GYN and assistant professor at Weill Cornell Medical College. Gariepy was not involved in treating Anaya."...

Wait..... she had to have a legitimate and articulable threat to her life before she was allowed to end another? Who'da thunk it?

SFC Casey O'Mally - "The fever and chills were an indication of an infection and left untreated, sepsis is fatal, Gariepy (OB/GYN and assistant professor at Weill Cornell Medical College) told ABC News."

Your biased opinion indicates that you did not read the article. If you truly want to rebut something, actually read the argument. The woman's life was in danger due to the wait for two separate committees since Texas state policy placed politics over medical urgency.

LTC Eugene Chu I did read the article.

IF LEFT UNTREATED. Was it left untreated? Or, was she under constant care and monitoring?

She was not sent home and told to come back if it gets worse. She was admitted, treated, and monitored. Pregnancy, in and of itself, places the mother's life "in danger." A danger she not only welcomed, but actively sought treatment to court. So go away with your "in danger" BS.

This is not placing politics over medical urgency, it is placing the value of ALL human life over politics.

SFC Casey O'Mally - "Did she die? Nope." Wow. You are an epic..wow. She went into SEPSIS. "Sepsis is the body's extreme response to an infection. It is a life-threatening medical emergency. Sepsis happens when an infection you already have triggers a chain reaction throughout your body. Infections that lead to sepsis most often start in the lung, urinary tract, skin, or gastrointestinal tract." Not only was she dying but she had to wait for some COMMITTEE to APPROVE her medical care to save her life.

This was already traumatic for her being a wanted pregnancy that ended on its own. And then the only reason they didn't do anything is because of a law, written by people with NO MEDICAL BACKGROUND. The fetus was already dying and then died but they didn't want to save the mother because of a hearbeat? That man nearly lost his wife also for NO REASON.

People like you are the problem in this country. Not drag queens, not transgender people. Inconsiderate, soulless POS like you are the problem. Abortion IS HEALTHCARE whether you agree or not.

I can't even with you people. This is one of the most disgusting things I've read on here. People like you are sick, soulless disgusting individuals. Yeah I am heated on this one. It's f* gross.

SFC (Join to see) We get to declare our opinion is fact and void the other pre-emptively? Awesome.

Abortion is murder whether you agree or not.

Wow, that was easy. Don't know why I haven't been debating like that all my life.

Yes, I am a ginger. But contrary to popular myth, that does not mean I am soulless.

Before ending one human life, the one choosing to end it had to be legitimately in danger of their own. That is a pretty standard principle.

There is absolutely no discussion of her almost dying. None. Except by people arguing emotion rather than fact. She was in hospital under constant care and supervision. Only one human life ended in this story. And the hospital went to the greatest lengths possible to avoid that tragic result.

You say I have no soul because I want to prevent human lives from being ended unless absolutely necessary? If "having a soul" according to you means cheering for ending even a single human life, let alone thousands of them, without a true necessity, then I will be happy to be in that club.

I do not believe ANYBODY is soulless. But I do believe some folks' souls are heavier than others. I am good with where mine is at.......
