I trust a journalist with an axe to grind as being far more truthful and far more willing to dig for uncomfortable answers than a "journalist" that is bought and paid for by the very people (s)he is reporting on.

Both will have a bias. Both will write with a slant. But the axe-grinder actually reports, the lackey only parrots.

And now rely on oddball sources and journalists with an axe to grind that tell you what you want to hear. Makes sense.
