It's good to have someone at the top who will battle for you but the Marines know what to do

How are they facing having no confirmed Commandant?

The current Commandant is in the Marine Corps. He can simply be told to stay put. Retirement is a REQUEST. The USMC does not need to grant it.

All of the clutching of pearls about people not being approved kills me. There are already qualified people in those positions. Leave them there. If they don't like it, though titties.

That is exactly what I was told every time I got sent to a crap assignment, my DEROS was involuntarily moved, I got extended for months in the combat zone, I got sent to an assignment I was legally not allowed to go to, etc. If it is good enough for me and the countless enlisted folks who got stop-lossed, pulled out of retirement, or had retirement rescinded from 2001 - 2005, it is good enough for the flag officers. If having your PCS or promotion paused or canceled was good enough for enlisted every time there was a budget crisis is good enough for us, those flags can suck it up for a change.
