SGT Mary G. Hmmm... think Climate Change plays a roll... :-)
..."Nebraska feedlots house 2.3 million cattle, while Kansas feedlots have 2.4 million cattle.

To prevent losses, Kansas State University in June updated an online weather tool, Kansas Mesonet, to use National Weather Service forecasts to predict comfort levels for cattle a week ahead of time.

Previously, the tool provided day-of weather data, said Christopher "Chip" Redmond, a meteorologist and manager of Kansas Mesonet.

"By then it's too late," he said."

SGT (Join to see) Washington State had cattle dying last year during it's heat wave. The drought and high temps for months at a him has to be difficult for wildlife too. It becomes a "food chain" problem. Something disappears in the environment and the next critter up the chains has no way of surviving unless it can find something to eat and/or adjust to a new food source. Of course when there is only carrion and road kill that is when wildlife becomes diseased. Years of drought are not the best years for hunting healthy animals.
Climate Change is a catch-all for everything, for sure, lol. Technically, it is actually only about very long term trends from century to century, millenium to millenum, eon to eon! I was trying to find the appropriate topic . . . weather wasn't listed. Ah ha! found it to add Meteroology!
