Excellent video SGT (Join to see) Truly amazing and disgusting little buggers.
Dunno if these are what have been in my yard in years past, but they do llok like fire ants I have seen. The bite of one hurts, and itches for a long time. Stand on top of an entrance and several bites are very unpleasant.
I do not use poison in the garden for pests or weeds. This year I put used coffee grounds at the entrances and exists that first showed up around the edge of the house. For the first time an ant problem did not develop in the back yard! Over two months later. Saw a couple of entrances in the back yard, strewed a generous handful of coffee grounds on and around them. Disappeared within two days. I can not say for sure that works, but it certainly seems to. Don't know if it works on all ants. Apparently, they can not tolerate the smell - maybe also the caffeine - it may only get them to relocate. It has been a blessing to be able to water without being attacked by tiny vicious ants!
