This is an amazing account of a veteran who dropped troops off on Omaha beach. Most of the stories we hear are from the men on the beach but I've always felt for the guys who had to lower the ramps knowing what they were committing the soldiers to. This is a story we don't normally hear about.

Wow, riveting story. First time I heard about the mined telephone poles the boats had to avoid.

It was brutal when he was talking about the point where he had to drop the ramp, knowing these kids are about to get mowed down because he could hear the bullets ricocheting off the other side. Just a gut wrenching moment for anyone.
