Some are mistakenly assuming that this post is related to some form of welfare recipients, that is NOT the case, it is related to parents/guardians who for one reason or another have allowed their children's school meal account to reach a state of insufficient funds. That can happen for a variety of reasons, who among us has never forgotten to pay a bill, or placed the bill in our car or briefcase and forgotten to mail it? When the "bill" in question is a child's school meal account the impact of that oversight can be devastating, students with depleted accounts are DENIED breakfast and provided alternative lunch meals such as cheese or peanut butter sandwiches, not grilled cheese, just cheese. Being denied a meal or provided an alternative meal is devastating and often embarrassing to students as young as 3 years-old!
All this petition is seeking to accomplish is the requirement that schools continue to feed the student and bill the parents like they would for any other service. If need be any outstanding school nutrition payments can be deducted from the parent's income tax return or in extreme cases referred to collection agencies.
This petition is Texas-based because that is where I reside and where I witnessed the events described in the petition but this problem is nationwide. Let's fix the problem in Texas and then use that as a model for fixing the problem nationwide. Please read, sign and share this petition, regardless where you are now or where you have been stationed in the past. Your support is greatly appreciated.

Please read, sign and share this petition, the more signatures the merrier. It's not for me, it's for the children!

Gus please read the petition, it's not long, it STILL requires parents to pay for their OWN children's meals, not the taxpayers.
