According to the progressives, you need to have affirmative action to correct the injustices done to minorities .. excuse me, CERTAIN minorities .. and it needs to start in elementary school - https://scholarworks.umb.edu/nejpp/vol10/iss1/9/
After that, you need affirmative action (because using it in elementary school or secondary school didn't correct the racial injustice that is inherent in a system that expect results) to get them into college. Then to get them into a job. Then to get them promoted.
If the goal of affirmative action is to level the playing field so minorities (sorry ... CERTAIN minorities .. don't want to trigger the far-left progressives) can compete equally with others, at what point does it turn into a "content of character" instead of "color of their skin" or "identification as something else"?
Call me a bigot (I know .. far-left progressives call everyone who doesn't goosestep to their ideology a bigot), but I don't want to pilot to be the four times affirmative action individual. I want the one that is best at flying the plane. That goes for who's operating on me, giving me financial advice, and so on.
By all means, the far-left can employ all the four time AA individual when they have surgery or are on a private chartered flight with your closest progressives with you, but the rest of us will be "bigots" and take the next doctor/pilot/whatever that didn't 'check a box'.

Affirmative Action Strategies in Elementary and Secondary Schools
Disproportionate numbers of black students do poorly on standardized tests; strategies to improve American education thus frequently target inner-city schools. These strategies often have an unrecognized affirmative action component. A search for more minority students or teachers is clearly an affirmative action effort. But the elimination of all tracking or competency grouping is another matter. Normally viewed as nothing more than a...

I think that every democrat who requires surgery should have to use only surgeons that benefitted from affirmative action to get in the school and to graduate. At some point they are going to wish they had the best qualified surgeon rather than the surgeon with their choice of skin color.

Affirmative Action is not racist, per se. What it became was racial quotas - and that is racist.
Additionally, even the quotas part was historically necessary to balance out years of systemic racism. But that was then......
These days, affirmative action has become a way to hire less qualified candidates based on innate characteristics, such as skin color or ancestry. This has become the goal.
But if a plane is crashing, I don't want the best available <insert minority group here> pilot. I just want the best pilot available, regardless of any other attribute.
