There had never been a Broadcast like it before and Orson Wells presentation so good it really scared a lot of people.

Well! In 2023 we do not have Martian invasion no sir … But we do have an alian invasion of ginormous proportions … they are just not from Mars … Venezuela for sure and hell by this time there may be some Martian’s.

Welles really touched the nerve of the American public. We hardly ever talk about anything from the 30's, especially radio shows. But mention this and everyone knows of it or had family who originally heard the broadcast. My grandparents laughed after telling us how scared they were while listening to it. They lived in Yankton, SD and Jordan Township, PA. My maternal grandfather stayed up all night with his shotgun on the porch. It was only the next day when he heard it was a show.
