Exactly. Some say it is intentionally ambiguous. Others say it clearly does not change doctrine. Still others celebrate the change! Ack!

Personally I think someone LGBTQIA who also claims Christianity (especially Catholicism) is strange but to each their own. Ultimately I think anyone who gives their life to any religion is pretty ridiculous. Especially the Abrahamic god (which Islam, Jews and Christians ALL believe in).

I'd say that any Catholic LGBTQIA people probably aren't really worried about getting married in a Catholic church OR they're closeted.

What does that even mean?

--- It says in the article what a "blessing" is but here you go: "Pope Francis on Monday approved letting priests bless same-sex couples, sparking criticism from conservative Catholics and praise from the LGBTQ community.

Such blessings would not rise to the level of church-sanctioned same-sex marriages, the Vatican cautioned, but would offer gay Catholics the opportunity to seek God’s mercy without being subjected to “an exhaustive moral analysis.”"

For civilized society, and for the US in particular, having been founded from religious persecution, it's important to have foundational principles followed. Homosexuality is a sin, and for members of a religion (all sinners) the idea is to admit the sin, apologize for it, and then promise not to repeat the sin, not label yourself as an unrepentant sinner.
