Back before trans service was a thing or even a question about a thing, I took up my stance. It has not changed.

Can you do the j-o-b?

Are you male? Female? Both? Neither?
Are you black, white, yellow, brown, red, purple, green?
Do you have both arms and both legs? 7 appendages? None?
Do you have an IQ of 100? 130? 25?
Can you bench 25 pounds? 75? 425?
Can you run 2 miles in 10 minutes? 15 minutes? Not at all?
Do you sleep with men? Women? Both? Neither?

I don't care. Not about any of it. Can you do the j-o-b? That's it. That is the only thing that matters. Can I send you into combat to fulfill your combat mission inherent within your military specialty? And can I count on you to do 2 things: 1) Get your job done, and 2) not be an undue burden on the rest of your team?

If the answer is yes, none of the rest matters. The job is yours, now go do it.
If the answer is no, none of the rest of it matters. Thank you for your willingness to serve, but you will need to find another avenue for service.

It really is that simple. People make it hard. They answer "yes, but...." That means no, folks. And it goes both ways. For both people making exceptions for themselves AND exceptions for others.

"Yes, but...."
.... I cannot actually deploy because of medical issue X. But I can do stateside missions.
That's a no. Apply for a DoD Civilian / contractor position.

.... I cannot do the full combat mission because I am too weak (mentally or physically).
That's a no. Once again, try for a civilian or contractor job.

..... I will need you to change the standards so that I amable to meet them.
That's a no. Come back and talk to me when you can meet the standards.

...... I refuse to meet the existing standards and demand to be treated special.
That's a no. Not only go away, but go far away. Your attitude disgusts me.

....I refuse to do so while *that* person is here.
That's a no. Your bigotry has no place in a professional military. Not only go away, but go far away. *You* disgust me.

But please pay particular attention to that last one, folks. If the person has been given the job, and the person can do the job, and the person IS DOING the job, then shut up F up and do yours, too.

Female but you don't believe it.

Are you black, white, yellow, brown, red, purple, green?

We all descend from a black mother. My ancestry is also Spanish,Cuban, HIllBilly,English and who knows what else.

Do you have both arms and both legs? 7 appendages? None?

2 arms and 2 legs.

Do you have an IQ of 100? 130? 25?

IQ is 150-160 depending on how I feel when taking said test.

Can you bench 25 pounds? 75? 425?
Don't need to lift. Give me a fulcrum and a lever and I can move the world.

Can you run 2 miles in 10 minutes? 15 minutes? Not at all?
Before transition I could do a sub 5 minute mile at altitudes of 4,000-7,500 feet ASL

Do you sleep with men? Women? Both? Neither?
Both. I'm an equal opportunity lover..

The only problem here is can you keep up with me.

I deployed with a seizure disorder.

.... I cannot do the full combat mission because I am too weak (mentally or physically).
That's a no. Once again, try for a civilian or contractor job.

Again. Can you keep up with me.

..... I will need you to change the standards so that I amable to meet them.
That's a no. Come back and talk to me when you can meet the standards.

The real question is can you meet MY STANDARDS.

...... I refuse to meet the existing standards and demand to be treated special.
That's a no. Not only go away, but go far away. Your attitude disgusts me.

Again! The real question is can you meet MY STANDARDS. Honestly your standards do not meet even what I consider minumn standards

....I refuse to do so while *that* person is here.
That's a no. Your bigotry has no place in a professional military. Not only go away, but go far away. *You* disgust me.

You know I do not work with idiots, so do not saddle me with one. Remember you called me and you know I'm a royal PITA and Trans to boot. So let's get something straight. You called me, the Trans Soldier, because no one else was capable of getting the job done.

But please pay particular attention to that last one, folks. If the person has been given the job, and the person can do the job, and the person IS DOING the job, then shut up F up and do yours, too.
