I was truly saddened to read this when I woke up today. I got into country music in the mid-nineties and many of his songs were my favorites to dance to. I remember putting on my uniform with 'American Soldier' often playing in the background. I don't know how, but he captured the spirit of why and who we served for - our family, our friends and those who required help in times of need.
I always find myself singing 'I Should Have Been A Cowboy' almost daily.
