That's the question, isn't it? Austin says he put out his information without an independent second source or confirmation. Now why would a retired general ever do such a thing?

MAJ Montgomery Granger - I am much more interested in what is happening in Gaza. Austin is trying to answer questions. At least he acknowledged the numbers were not verified.

Austin is one of the worst Sec Defs we've had...he is a tool of the left and clearly uninterested in doing the job correctly

Why is that, 1SG? Seems to me that if you disagree with the information you would seek out multiple sources instead of dismissing the information out of hand. I subscribe to the New York Times, but I in now way take their stories at face value. Same with Epoch Times, South China, Al Jazeera, et al. I look for primary source information, videos, known and trusted sources to verify or disprove. So called "fact checkers" are always affiliated with a group opposing information that they don't like. I am always suspicious of those who dismiss something they don't like because of the source. They don't address the content or issue, just the source. Sounds like you don't want to talk about it.

MAJ Montgomery Granger Sir- because any Cabinet leader who relies on information that they cannot independently confirm, should not be relied upon when making official statements for the U.S. IMHO

MAJ Montgomery Granger and I would also note SecDef’s statement was inaccurate and had to be “clarified” by a Pentagon spokesman after.
