LTC Eugene Chu Agree with Rep. Gerry Connolly... said in a statement on X that "Donald Trump is facing 91 felony charges. If Republicans want to name something after him, I'd suggest they find a federal prison." Trump denies wrongdoing in his cases stemming from the charges.

I am opposed to all the re-naming. Regardless of today, they were considered important enough then to have the honor bestowed upon them.

Name new things after the heroes of today and recent times. JMHO which I have no doubt many don’t share.

@LTC Eugene Chu - Trump has been indicted on a total of 91 criminal charges across four different cases in New York, Georgia, and at the federal level. These charges include falsifying business records, mishandling classified documents, conspiracy to overturn the 2020 election, and other offenses.

The cases are still ongoing, with some trials scheduled for 2024. Trump has pleaded not guilty to all the charges against him.

Your comments suggest you would like to skip the legal process and call President Trump guilty on all accounts. (Your comment, “Donald Trump is facing 91 felony charges. If Republicans want to name something after him, I’d suggest they find a federal prison.”) Is that analysis correct?

No, it is not. Airports are named for politicians with honorable reputations. While Trump has yet to go to court, indictments are still a stain.

Great example is Las Vegas renaming their airport in honor of the late Senator Harry Reid. Reid never was indicted and lobbied to help the state. The city changed name due to the stained legacy of predecessor, Senator McCarran, known for racist, xenophobic and antisemitic views.
