Thankfully Israel was able to overcome the 'deterrence' and defend their nation. That they were overwhelmingly successful in defense doesn't negate the intent of the iranian attack.

Exactly! Israel's response should be commensurate with Iran's intent, not the results of their attack. Only Israel should choose military targets, but not be restrained by the failure of the Iranian attack, which surely intendent to destroy Israel and murder countless innocent victims, not just Jewish, but from all nations, nationalities, backgrounds and faiths living and visiting Israel.

The attack was stopped, no appreciable damage. And now Iran will face repercussions.

And they should face repercussions commensurate with their intent, meaning, Israel should be able to retaliate in kind. We cannot gauge intensity based on the success or failure of an enemy attack. Their intent was to destroy Israel and kill thousands of innocent people, not just Jews, but other innocent Israeli citizens and tourist/visitors from all nations friendly to Israel. Israel's response should be devastating, but targeting only military facilities/troops.
