A1C Medrick "RICK" DeVaney - It's tough being a Cop these days brother "Rick". Everybody has an opinion on how you should be a Cop, but they ain't Cops. I'm glad I'm not doing it anymore.

The footage I saw certainly didn't look good for the deputy. If I had time to see that the individual did have a weapon but that it was pointing down, the deputy certainly did. Huge question here on how officers in that department are trained IMO.

I saw the footage as well, self-defense is not an excuse for this Sheriff’s Deputy. This deputy needs to be sued, fired and sent to prison for murder.
On a separate issue, it may be prudent, if you answer a door with a firearm, you either have it holstered, on a table next to the door, a device that limits the amount the door opens. Just saying.

Put them through a few weeks of law, give them a gun and tell them to make good decisions. Doesn’t work that way
