There are many examples of "our day" heroes. SFC Leroy Petry and SSG Ty Carter are just two of many fine examples.

Rest in peace old warrior and brother.
We have lost many great warriors, and even better human beings. Just yesterday I saw a picture of some city council members somewhere that didn't have the decency to stand for the pledge of allegiance.
But, for every individual who refuses to respect our Nation, we have others that are willing to give their life for our Nation and for what is right. It just so happens that the need hasn't arise yet.
Just look at the story of Marcus Lautrell team members, or Lautrell himself.
Yes, we do have warriors with the potential to be that great.
