MAJ James Woods We don't. However, it is well documented the government of modern day Israel does<sigh> Bibi is increasingly considered to be "a loose cannon" by his own people, also, for good reason. That reporting is probably accurate, unfortunately.

"The U.S. Navy has positioned the aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford in the Eastern Mediterranean in response to the conflict. The carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower may deploy there by Tuesday. "

Israel does not like observers and reacts badly to them (always says "no" to requests). Hopefully, one of these carriers, if not two, are too large to elicit the same response as the USS Liberty did as a neutral observer during the June war of '67. .

Non combatants are not supposed to attack opposing forces; if you do, you are no longer a non combatant. And using noncombatants as shields for your forces is a war crime... that's what Israel is contending with. I hope they will still try to minimize casualties among the noncombat civilian population

Yeah. It's commonsense that once a noncombatant fires a weapon they are now a combatant. But that isn't the issue I raised. Yeah using a human shield is a war crime. So is collective punishment in warfare which is exactly what the Israeli officials was suggesting. Burning down civilian villages in Vietnam cause you felt they were assisting the enemy and not cause you find evidence it was being used as an enemy staging area is a war crime by today's standards. So yes engaging an enemy that doesn't wear uniforms and hides among civilians will result in collateral damage. One best be sure before engaging that the enemy is there or face being accused of committing a war crime.
