Fun stuff. I think that archeologists tend to put a modern twist on things. In the Roman era phallic symbols were a good luck sign like horse shoes and adorned houses businesses. Was that a erotic device? I was thinking along the lines of a voodoo doll. Some lady upset at a guy casts a spell to connect the phallus symbol to her enemy, then she is out pounding rocks and things with it, breaking it etc.
