Good morning, Rallypoint, and welcome to the Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD) for January 11, 2025.
As other posts have mentioned previously (from
Lt Col Charlie Brown if I remember correctly), we have a parade of planets in the sky for the month of January. This image from January 2nd is from Mount Etna in Italy, so things have moved to the right a bit. Other than needing a telescope to spot Uranus and Neptune, all the others (Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, and Venus) should still be visible weather permitting. For those of you that watch the sky from the eastern North American continent, the Moon will appear to pass 'in front' of Mars in two days (on January 13th).
