I am amazed at the sorry state of fighting wild fires in LA and even in the rest of Cali. The people, supposedly in charge, are clueless. There seem to be wildfires every year but instead of getting more equipment, better training, more firefighters, more water holding lakes or tanks, clearing brush and deadfall’s with controlled burns, and more firefighting air assets, they ignore the reality, cut the budget, etc. It’s time that the people of California wake up and demand better.
I have a son who will soon pin on Captain’s bars in Atlanta. I know many of the many issues there that affect the firefighters there. It’s time to deal with all this while it is clearly etched in the minds of voters.

I volunteered from Ft. Carson in 96 to go out to northern California and Oregon and fire fight. We were mop up crews hitting the hot spots up in the foothills. It was worthwhile helping protect the little communities and they were extremely appreciative! I can't imagine what it was like in LA!

AN Ron Wright - Thanks Brother it was my pleasure! We were based outside of John Day but stayed up in the mountains. They would sling load in breakfast and supper by helicopter. Awesome scenery up there!

Two things. Perhaps they should pay their administration staff alot less than the do to be able to afford more fire fighters on the rigs.
Second, hire the best damn people, not the ones that fill quotas.
