Marco Rubio demands immediate halt to virtually all US foreign aid

The US State Department ordered a sweeping freeze on new funding for almost all U.S. foreign assistance for 3 months pending reviews, making exceptions for emergency food programs and military aid to Israel and Egypt. The United States is the largest single donor of aid globally - in fiscal year 2023, it disbursed $72 billion in assistance.
