"I think the single dumbest phrase in military history is 'our diversity is our strength.' I think our strength is our unity. Our strength is our shared purpose. Regardless of our background, regardless of how we grew up, regardless of our gender, regardless of our race, in this department, we will treat everyone equally. We will treat everyone with fairness. We will treat everyone with respect, and we will judge you as an individual by your merit and by your commitment to the team and the mission. That's how it has been. That's how it will be." - SecDef Hegseth

I echo this statement. When we are all knee deep in the shit, no one cares if their buddy is white, black, muslim, Jewish, or gay. I want the most competent person watching my six, as I would do for them. It is just that simple.
This isn't to say we should not welcome diversity. We absolutely should. But our priority should not be placed on creating diversity for the sake of diversity. This is looked upon as engineered vs a formation of a diverse organization based on the desire of all to want to join.
