Navy Secretary Nominee, a Trump Donor with No Military Experience, Glides Through Confirmation...

Once again, a completely unqualified nominee is being touted as a "businessman" when in reality - his "business" experience in investment banking is very narrow in terms of all the skills needed to lead a large, complex organization like the United States Navy.

How many employees does "Ruggar Management LLC" have? What does it create?? Certainly not battleships and aircraft carriers. Has he ever been to a shipyard?? Was he asked about the fundamental Title X functions of a military service component - organizing, manning, equipping, training, sustaining, basing, medical support, family support, morale & welfare...What does he know about the Navy, or the military, or...anything - other than being an art collector and a million-dollar Trump donator? Virtually NOTHING. Pathetic. This is THE BEST WE CAN DO?? In ALL OF AMERICA? C'mon!!

Phelan's professional background is as an investment banker. He currently serves as chairman of Rugger Management LLC, an investment firm he founded, and he was previously the co-founder and managing partner of MSD Capital, the private investment firm for Michael Dell, founder and CEO of Dell Technologies.

Phelan was a major donor to Trump and Republicans in the 2024 elections. Among other political donations, he contributed $834,600 to Trump's joint fundraising committee in April, and days after the election, on Nov. 10, chipped in another $93,300, Federal Election Commission records show.
